James “ Jim” Robert McBride, 75, of Prosperity, received his heavenly wings on Thursday, May 28, 2020 after a short illness.
Born February 13, 1945 in Shady Spring, West Virginia , he was the son of the late Drewey and Bertha Green McBride. Jim graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1963 and received his training as an electrician at the Raleigh County Vo-Tech in Beckley. After being drafted and serving in Vietnam for two years Jim returned to Beckley and worked for over 30 years as a master electrician at Comer Electric. Jim was a member of the Weirwood Community Church in Pax. He loved helping people and had a special devotion to working with the Lilly Reunion. Jim especially loved hunting, fishing, old cars and watching WVU sports. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Tommy; his first wife Sharon Redden McBride; daughter Cassandra McCallister; son James “Mike” McBride and a great grandchild, Brayden Fraley.
The survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 30 years Donna McBride of Prosperity; two daughters, Susan McBride Hylton (Benny) of Coal City, West Virginia, Julie Dillinger Bolen (Arthur) of Beckley; sons, Billy Dillinger (Maria) of Red House, WV and Barry Dillinger (Melissa) of Perryville, AR; daughter-in-law, Cindy McBride Hilliard, FL; sisters, Twila Jones of Wilmington, NC, Betty Meadows of Cool Ridge, WV, Linda Williams also of Wilmington, NC; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends.
A walk-through visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Wierwood Community Church in Pax from 12-2 pm. A private family service will follow with Pastor Tom Lilly officiating. Following CDC guidelines the family asks those attending to please wear proper facial covering and observe social distancing.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Bowers Hospice House.
