James A. Harsh, retired Captain of the WV State Police, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday April 25, 2020. Jim was born on June 16, 1935 to Arba and Pearl Harsh in Lester, WV. He graduated from Trap Hill High School class of 1953. He served in the US Army from 1953-1956. He was deployed to Frankfurt Germany. His job in the army was a MP. Upon his honorable discharge he entered into the WV State Police academy. He was part of the eighth graduating class.
At age 43 he invited Jesus into his heart. After his conversion he felt another calling. God placed in his heart to become a preacher of the Gospel. His slogan became “I got them by the law, and now I get them by grace.” He served the citizens of the Mountain State and His Lord faithfully for many decades. He was the pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Lashmeet, WV for 26 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 30 years and host of family. He was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church in MacArthur, WV. His pastor Sam Green will be officiating graveside rites in the family cemetery Thursday April 30, 2020.

Jim’s life verse was Galatians 2:20 where the Apostle Paul wrote: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
