Jacqueline B. Lawson Bowman Richmond, 79, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House. Born February 5, 1933 at Lanark, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mayo and Carrie Roark Lawson. Jacqueline worked as a nurse’s aide at Heartland of Beckley and retired from Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. She loved to garden and can what the Lord gave her. She loved to make apple butter the old fashioned way. Jacqueline gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 12. She loved the Lord and her church family. She called Sprague Freewill Baptist Church her church and her preacher, Pastor Fred.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Lonnie E. Bowman; 3 children, Carolyn Bowman, Diana Lynn Bowman and Lonnie Bowman, Jr.; second husband, Roy R. Richmond; 2 sisters, Patricia Girvin, T. Ruby Bennett and a brother, James Lawson.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Miller and husband Keith of Beckley; sons, Gary Bowman and wife Sandra of MacArthur, WV, Larry Bowman and wife Teresa of Fairdale, WV; sisters, Jewel Lawson of Beckley, Juanita Henrich and husband Fenn of Pittsburgh, PA; brothers, John Lawson and wife Vicky of Lynco, WV, Dr. Dave Lawson and wife Brenda of Jacksonville, FL, Earl Lawson of Douglasville, GA; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a little boy on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Lovell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 p.m. Friday.
