Jackie Lee Dempsey, 68, of Beckley, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015. Born April 3, 1946 in Fayette County he was the son of Frances Shumaker Dempsey and the late Wallace Dempsey.
Jack was owner of Jack Dempsey Painting. He started in the painting business with James R. Webb Contractors before starting his own company. Jack was a member of Cranberry Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed doing yard work and taking care of his camp at the river, but first and foremost he was a family man and loved the time he was able to spend with his family and dog, Meesha.
Besides his mother Jack is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Tonya Palmer and her husband Doug; granddaughter Lindsey Palmer; brothers, Wallace, Roger and Gerald Dempsey and sisters, Janice Whitlock, Ruth Ladish, Linda Kizer and Brenda Aiello.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Cranberry Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time at the church on Monday. Following Jack's wishes he will be cremated.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Cranberry Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801 in Jack's honor.
