Jack E. Davis

Jack E. Davis, 84, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013. Born March 13, 1929 in Roderfield, WV, he was the son of the late Raymond and Hessie Davis. Jack was former foreman for Eastern Coal and maintenance foreman for Peabody Coal. While living in Oceana Jack was an advocate for local sports, coaching youth baseball and refereeing high school sports. He enjoyed playing tennis and spending winters at his condominium in FL. Jack was an avid WVU Mountaineer football fan, a member of the Beckley Moose Lodge and UMWA. He loved his poodles, Prissy 1, Prissy 2 and Joey. Jack attended the First Baptist Church, Beckley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Griffith Davis; son, Douglas Davis and wife Kathy of Goode, VA; daughter Jackie Davis of Attleboro, MA; grandchildren, Michael, Adam, Heather, Sarah and Josh; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Faye Jackson of Beckley and Jean Duncan of Atlanta, GA.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B with Rev. Doc Adkins officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the cemetery.
