Helen Marie Goodwin, 88, of Columbus, Georgia, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Columbus Hospice House. Before moving to Columbus, Georgia in June, 2006 she lived in Beckley and Glen White.
Born May 23, 1920 in Exeter, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Witt and Elizabeth Boggs Witt.
Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Goodwin, son, Harold Goodwin and three sisters and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include, daughter, Caralene McPeake and husband Jackie of Beckley, daughter Arlene Goodwin of Columbus, Ga., daughter Gena Farley of Columbus, Ga., son Ronald Goodwin and wife Betty of Beckley, son Ellis Goodwin of Columbus, Ga., grandchildren Kim Brooks (Mark Muldrew) of Midland, Ga., Ron Goodwin (Rose) of Beckley, Elaine Sanda (Mike) of Columbus, Ga., Amy Job (Jeff) of Raleigh, NC., great grandchildren Tommy Okes, Kendra and Jeffrey Job, Christopher Goodwin, Casey Marie Sanda and sister Jeanette Blevins of St. Clair Shores, Mi.
Friends may call at the Calfee Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park with Joe Schmidt and Ken Overdorf officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ron Goodwin, Troy Richards, Curtis Richards, Jeff Job, Tommy Okes, and Marquis Brooks, Jr.
