Helen Murray Cottingham , 80, gained her wings on January 10, 2025.
Helen was born to Mabel and Alva Turner on December 30, 1944.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, Mabel: father, Alva and her big brother Bill Turner.
Helen left behind her daughter, Michelle Smith, son Brian Cottingham and his wife Wendy. Granddaughters Allegra Smith and husband Daniel, Adrianna Boggess and husband Luke, Alex Everette and husband Stephen. And 8 great grandchildren: Landon, Noah, Keegan, Teigan, Julia, Grace, Blake and Reese. She tolerated her kids, liked her grandkids and loved her great grandkids.
Helen was commonly known as Gram or Gammy to many people, and played that role well to all of the friends her grandkids brought around.
Most of her favorite things involved food, having breakfast or lunch with her friends, snacks, candy and peach soda or cherry kool aid. When she wasn’t enjoying time with her family and friends, she was dedicating her time to work. She was a respiratory therapist at Beckley Hospital and Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, and most recently worked as a door greeter at Beckley Walmart. Her time working is where she made so many of her friends that became her family over the many years that she knew them.
She was one of the greatest souls you could get the privilege of meeting and will be deeply missed, loved and cherished forever.
