Grover C. StClair, Jr. 93, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Bowers Hospice House. Born December 8, 1917 in Roanoke, VA, he was the son of the late Grover C. and Ruby Walker StClair, Sr.
Grover was a retired vice-president for Raleigh County National Bank with 26 years of service. He was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church and American Legion Post 32. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a resident of the Beckley area since 1928. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, David A. and James E. StClair and by sisters, Pearl L. Brown, Edith M. Snuffer, Leafy Etta Ballou and Ann O’Neal and her husband Frank; brother-in-law, James Russell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty R. StClair; brother, Harrison M. StClair and wife Carole of Vinton, VA; sister-in-law, Christine Russell of Waycross, GA, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Bill Parker, Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
