Gregory Scott Pence

Gregory Scott Pence passed away from this earth on July 12, 2021. He loved Jesus and he is free from the pain of cancer now that he is in Heaven.
Greg was the son of Joseph Warren Pence and kay Sandra Sayre Pence and was born in Charleston, WV. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph; grandparents Cecil and Charlotte Sayre; paternal grandparents, Leonard, and Jewel Pence; brother Jon Pence and nephew, Eddie Russell.
Greg is survived by his mother, Kay Pence, whom he absolutely cherished. His brother Joseph (Debbie); nephews Joey (Danielle); great nephew Wyatt and great niece Savannah, and Justin (Carrie); sister, Lynn Russell, and niece Katy; brother Mark (Tracy) and nephews Mark and Lucas and niece Jessica. Greg also leaves behind fiance’ Carolyn Farris. They were together for 19 years – he was the love of her life.
His beautiful daughters, Ashlie Pence (Steve); grandchildren Zoey, Zane, Zayden and Zander, Alison Pence (Rusty), grandchildren Logan, Talia and Conrad, Lindsay Pence (Adam) grandchildren Isabelle, Gabrielle, Lucas-Jack, and Millania.
Greg was also Paw Paw to Ian and Audrey Henderson and Uncle Greg to Joshua Farris.
Greg graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1976. He went on to have his own drywall business which he was a master in his profession. He had businesses in Florida, North Carolina, and West Virginia.
Greg’s wonderful family and life-long friends will treasure the memory of his sense of humor and his DJ voice.
Greg’s “gift of gab” always put people at ease, and everyone really enjoyed being around him. And what a dance! He could groove with the best of them.
Greg loved playing horseshoes, a great pool shot, and no one could beat him at Spades. He really enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, football, and Nascar (he once went fishing with Dale Earnhart). March Madness and WVU games were always a party at Greg’s home.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held July 24, 2021, starting at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 200 Virginia St.
