Gratton McLean Underwood
April 25, 1929 — January 15, 2022
Gratton McLean Underwood passed away in his sleep on January 15, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Underwood.
Gratton is remembered by his two sons, Brian Matthew Underwood of Charlotte, NC and Gratton Mark Underwood along with his daughter in-law Joan Underwood, twin granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons of Huntersville, NC.
Retired from the US Army where he served in the Korean War. Gratton came home and started working for the USPS from where he also retired. Unable to sit still Gratton then went on to work for and retire from Kroger.
Gratton held the same love of animals as his wife Ann and instilled this love to his family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Woods Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations made to the Raleigh County Humane Society, 325 Grey Flats Rd., Beckley, WV 25801 (or an animal shelter of your choice) or Korean War Veterans Association, Inc., PO Box 407, Charleston, IL 61920.
