With his family by his side, Glen Lee Cook, 71, of Soak Creek, went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House after an extended illness.
Glen was born in Beckley on July 30, 1942 to the late William L. Cook, Sr. and Lillie Howerton Cook Rakes.
A retired coal miner from Slab Fork Coal Company, Glen loved to hunt, fish, enjoyed watching the Mountaineers and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are Glen’s sons, William Cook and wife Michele of Shady Spring, Brian Cook and wife Brandy of Beaver; grandchildren, Shannon Blevins and husband Greg of Beckley, Belinda Godby and husband Dustin of Cool Ridge, Grant Joynes of Beaver; great grandchild, Madison Blevins of Beckley; brothers, Larry Cook and wife Rachel of Coal City, William Cook, JR, of Washington D.C.; sister, Marquita Richmond and husband Joe of Crab Orchard and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Calfee Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Sauder officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, September 3 at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
