Glen Dale Tabor, Sr., 88, of Naoma, passed away Tuesday at Bowers Hospice House after a long illness. Born April 15, 1923 at Saxon, WV, he was the son of the late C.W. and Arizona Massey Tabor. Glen was the owner/operator of the former Tabor Supermarket. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 62 in Whitesville, member of the board of director of Whitesville State bank since its inception. He led the 1942 Marsh Fork High School Bulldogs in scoring on their state championship basketball team. Glen was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed fishing and was a “Jack of all trades”. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jarrell Tabor; son, John Tabor and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda (Gee) Patten of Coal City; son, Glen Dale Tabor, Jr. of Beckley; four grandchildren, Glen Dale (Chip) Tabor, III of Beckley, J.J. Tabor, Justin Tabor and Chelsi Tabor; 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and all the associates from Tabor Supermarket.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service on Monday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
