Gerald Ray Day, of Besoco, passed away May 11, 2010 in a local hospital following a short illness. Born January 8, 1963 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Edward “Skip” Day and Sue Ann Stewart England of Besoco. Gerald was a disabled coal miner and a lifelong resident of Raleigh County. Besides his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Regina Dobbs.
Survivors include his wife, Jessica Amick Day, Mother-in-law, Sally Wilson Amick, Father-in-law, Donald Amick, ex wife of 27 years Sarah Elledge, sons: Phillip G. Day of Hillsville, VA, Matthew Day of Beckley, his only daughter, Heather Dawn Day and companion Billy Cook of Hillsville, VA, grandchildren; Hannah Mae, Ethan and Seth Cook all of Hillsville, VA, sisters; Donna Collins and Crystal Meadows, brothers-in-law; Halsey Collins and Sam Winston.
Services will be Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ray Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Day, Galen Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Philip day, Jimmy Collins and Billy Cook.
