Garland Egram Sisk, Jr., 77, of Coal City, died at his residence, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 following a long illness. Born June 30, 1931 at Garwood, WV, he was the son of the late Garland Egram and Marie Cole Sisk, Sr. He was a retired coal miner from Amigo Smokeless Coal, a member of the UMWA and a former member of the Sophia-Midway VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Garland was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a resident of Raleigh County for the past thirty years. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Kay Sisk; brothers, Willis Sisk, Gideon Sisk, Frankie Ball and Billy Ball; sisters, Lilly Green, Bernice Carter and Rosie Ball.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Hite and Pastor Garry Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday. Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 will conduct military graveside honors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
