Gail Kinsey, 65, of Beckley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 5, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness and strength. Born in 1950 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Silvia Kinsey. Gail grew up in Washington and suburban Maryland but made West Virginia her home after graduating from then-Madison College. She was for many years a behavioral health counselor and community activist, widely known for her extraordinary perceptiveness, kind-heartedness, and strength of will in helping vulnerable people. As well, she worked tirelessly through a range of volunteer activities to fight injustice and bring a voice to the voiceless. Survivors include her husband Scott Thompson; son Andrew Noyes and his partner Rob Banning; her sister Susan Kinsey and many loving cousins. A celebration of Gail's life will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley. There will be no visitation..
