Frederick Byrd Pierce

Frederick Byrd Pierce of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10^th, 2022. The son of H.A. Pierce, Jr. and Wylantha Byrd Pierce, and brother of H.A. Pierce, III, he was born in Charleston, WV on January 5^th, 1946.

Intelligent and inquisitive, after graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School Fred went on to study at Wake Forest University, West Virginia University, and Beckley College. His curiosity was lifelong and he never stopped reading, learning, and reflecting. A lover of music, he had a deep knowledge and understanding of classical music and was a skilled pianist himself.

Fred was highly personable and connected easily with people. He had a ready sense of humor and loved nothing more than to make people laugh with his jokes. With a generous spirit he donated faithfully to his favorite charities. Never materialistic or worldly, he instead took comfort and pleasure in the simple things in life. After years of soul-searching Fred became a devoted Christian and a student of Divine Prophecy. He spent his later years contented and at peace; his memory will be cherished by his spouse of 27 years Kathleen McMahon-Pierce and his son, Shane Pierce.

A visitation will be held at Calfee Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17th, at 5 PM with a service to follow at 6. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fred's favorite charity, World Vision, at www.worldvision.org
