Ernest Delano Nichols, Jr.

Ernest “Ernie” Delano Nichols Jr, 63, of Beckley, WV passed away Saturday April 22, 2023. Born Sept 27, 1959 in Beckley, the son of Patsy Sue Smith and the late Ernest Delano Nichols Sr. He grew up in Sophia, WV and was a 1979 graduate of Independence High school. After graduating High School, he worked in the construction field and later pursued a career as a Semi-Truck driver. Ernie enjoyed being outdoors spending time hunting, camping, and fishing. As a hobby he enjoyed building and flying RC Airplanes. Ernie was an avid WVU fan and enjoyed watching Nascar races. He was kindhearted, giving and loved his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Ernest Delano Nichols Sr.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother Patsy Sue Smith, brother George Nichols (Paula), nieces Heather Grodski (Max), Chandler Muffick, cousins James Richardson, Peggy Nichols Vaccaro, Randy Nichols, Simon Petry, John Ferguson, Tina McCoy, Janie Marks, Teresa Hart, Michelle Hart, Kim Graham, David Lee Browning, Marty Browning, Kevin Collins, aunts Kathleen Waldron (Herb), Margaret Petry, Sandra Nichols and uncles John Collins (Sharon) and Melvyn Shumate.

The family would like to thank the SICU staff at Raleigh General Hospital and a special thanks to Brittany Cruise for being so helpful and compassionate to our family.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B with Pastor Vondie Cook, II officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the mausoleum.
