Eleanor Kidd Locklear, 77, of Sophia, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017.
Born January 5, 1940 in Long Branch, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Lewis and Elizabeth Cook Kidd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Kidd.
Eleanor was a member of Sophia First United Methodist Church and attended Glen White Church of God. She sang in the choir of both churches. She was a member of Senior Friends, Well I’ll Bee, Son Rays at Glen White Church of God, Order of Eastern Star Beckley Lodge 71 and Mullens Lodge 100, Daughters of the Confederacy, DAR, and charter member of Columbia, MD Lions Club.
She is survived by daughter, Dawnee’ Locklear Andrews (Jim) of Cartersville, GA; sons, Dewayne Shumate of Pikesville, MD, Bob Shumate of Union Grove, NC; grandchildren, Cole, Julianne, Katelyn Shumate, Lauren, Chris Rogers, Fonda Garvin, Pride Johnson, Avery & Mason Andrews; ex-husbands, Donald Locklear, Mickey Shumate.
Funeral service will be 11 am Monday, July 31, 2017 at Sophia First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Rumberg officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery in Pickaway, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service at the church. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am led by Bethlehem Chapter 71, Order of the Eastern Star.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sophia First United Methodist Church.
