Edith Juanita Hartley

Edith Juanita “Johnie” Hartley of MacArthur, passed way early Tuesday morning, September 29, 2009, at the Bowers Hospice House. Born January 4, 1921, in Holden, WV, she was the daughter of Samuel B. Clark and Verna Hood Clark. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Hartley in September 1989, and her beloved son, TSGT, USAF (Retired) Robert G. Hartley in September 1997.
She is survived by her beloved son, William B. Hartley of MacArthur, WV, with whom she had made her home for the past eight years; sisters, Betty Clark Meadows of Beckley, and Mildred Boggess of Parma, OH; two very special nephews, Michael Meadows of Charleston, WV, and Ward Irwin, Jr. of Bristol, VA; five grandchildren, Jefferson Hartley, Tammy, Laura Lynn, Bobbi Gail, and Heather; two great grandchildren; four great-great grand children, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of her life at the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 with Pastor Mike Sisson officiating. There will be no viewing. She will be layed to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Dee Quinn, Greg Wood, Rick Chancey, Alvin McMullin, Paul Bena, and James Fitzpatrick..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801
