Eddie Dean Persinger, 60, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center following a long illness. Born June 1, 1952 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Homer “Pee Wee” and Raphael Rice Persinger.
Dean was a coal miner retiring from Patriot Coal. He was a member of Cross Point Church of God and the UMWA. Dean loved horseback riding, golf, WVU Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steeler football and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Dallas, Homer, Bobby, Freddie and Tommy Persinger.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Hartley Persinger; daughter, Lisa Meadows and husband Steve of Glen Morgan; son, Eddie Persinger and wife Melissa of MacArthur; grandchildren, Tristan Meadows, Brianna, Caleb, MaKayla and Logan Persinger; brothers, Jackie Persinger and wife Donna of Culpepper, VA, Charlie Persinger and wife Ann of AZ, Paul Persinger of VA; sisters, Judy O’Meara and husband Paul of Manassas, VA, Sherry Gray and husband Arnold of Beckley as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Cross Point Church of God with Pastor Vondie L. Cook, II officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
