Drema Paulette Daniels, 72, left her earthly home to gain her heavenly mansion on Saturday, January 9th. She was reunited with her husband of 57 years and the love of her life, Richard, who crossed the finish line two months before her. Drema was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and maw-maw. She was forgiving, understanding and always gave you the benefit of the doubt. She loved gardening and took much pride in the appearance of her yard and home. She enjoyed working puzzles on her back porch and visiting with her brother and sister-in-law next door. She loved to cook and share her goodies with others. Many will miss the pies, cakes and candies she loved to prepare. Drema was a member of Maynor Freewill Baptist Church where she was an active member for over 30 years. She and Richard traveled southern WV singing songs of encouragement and salvation.
Drema was born on October 30, 1948 in Sophia, WV to Paul and Louise Ward. She was the 2nd daughter born to them and she and her older sister, Deanna, were the best of friends. Deanna couldn’t say “Sissy” so Drema gained the nickname “Tippy” by which she was known her entire life. Two other siblings were to be added to the family.
Drema was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Louise Ward, a sister, Deanna Delight Ward, her husband, Richard Allen Daniels and son in law, George Barber, nephew Kevin Bolen and niece Julie Doss.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her daughters, Paula Carroll of Beckley, Lori Lilly and husband James of Roanoke, VA, grandsons Scott Barber and Daniel Carroll of Beckley, granddaughters Brittany Bradford and her husband Daniel of Winchester, VA and Madison Lilly of Roanoke, VA, brother Larry Ward and wife Debbie of Beckley and sister Debbie Hawley and companion Leon of Rainelle, WV, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, January 15th at Calfee Funeral Home with Larry Brown officiating and Karen James singing. The family will receive visitors at 11 and the funeral will begin at 1.
