Dorothy Mae Lester

Dorothy (Dot) Mae Lester, 84, left this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father on October 21, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital. She was a resident of Forest Road, Beckley for the past 42 years. She previously lived in Holden and Hanover, WV many years ago.
Born January 14, 1930 in Big Creek, McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Goldie Holcomb. She graduated Gilbert High School in 1949. For many years she assisted her son and husband in managing the family business, Laser Distributing. She was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son Danny Ray Lester in 2008. The death of her only son was a tragic memory never far from her thoughts. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Charles Holcomb, William Holcomb, Donald Holcomb, Betty Moore and Ronald Holcomb.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 63 years Ray G. Lester. Dot and Ray were married April 8, 1950 at the Hanover Baptist Church by Joe C. Hatfield.
She is survived by a brother, Walter Holcomb of Bristol, TN and a sister, Francis Cline of Clear Fork, WV. There are many friends, nieces and nephews that will greatly miss her beautiful smile and jolly personality.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Ronnie Lester and Rev. Jackie Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Lester Family Cemetery in Hanover.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11:00 to 1:00 Saturday immediately preceding the funeral at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
