DONALD BRONSON “D.B”.BROWNING
Born in Pie, WV, on December 31, 1940, D.B. was the son of the late Damon Arnold and Juanita McCoy Browning. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Vee Parsons Browning; a son, Greg Browning of White Oak; a daughter, Trina Kirven of Sunset Beach, NC; a grandson, Tate Bronson Kirven of Charleston, SC; a granddaughter, Kirsten Browning of Johnson City, TN; brothers-in-law, Russ Parsons (June) and Mead Parsons (Joan), a niece, Kathryn Henderson of Beckley, and a great-nephew, Sam Henderson of Beckley.
Preceding him in death was his son, Duane Browning in 1981.
D. B. graduated from Burch High School of Delbarton and attended Marshall University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, a 32 degree Mason, Black Knight Country Club, and the Resort of Glade Springs where he lived for 48 years enjoying his favorite pastime of golf and proudly serving on the ARB for many years.
D.B. began his career as Section Foreman at Island Creek Coal Company. He later became Section Foreman at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and was Manager of Mines at North American Coal and Barnes and Tucker Co., then General Manager of Pittston Coal Group. After moving to Beckley, he became Vice-President and General Manager of Fairchild Corporation. In 1976, he became self-employed as a used mining equipment salesman until he retired in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that contributions be made in memory of D. B. Browning to the Edgar Russell and Clark Parsons Fund at the Beckley Area Foundation, 1210 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, WV 25801, or the charity of your choice.
Following his wishes, D.B. will be cremated. Visitation will be at Calfee Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19th, from 1 - 3. There will private graveside services at a later date.
