Beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister and, Aunt, Dona Kaye Johnson Parkulo, passed away February 7th after a long illness at the age of 79. The “Johnson Crew” from Skelton, WV has welcomed their baby sister home to the Pearly Gates. Dona was a lifelong resident of Beckley and brightened the day of anyone that met her. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Luther, Bill and Russell Jr., sisters: Nina, Betty, Martha, Mary Lou and Eva Sue.
Dona held many jobs in her lifetime. She was a receptionist for local optometrists’ offices; and was an employee of Lowes of Beckley, where she enjoyed her customers and co-workers.
Dona had a soft spot for those with disabilities, having grown up with a disabled brother. Her most rewarding job was working with disabled adults through FMRS. She truly loved and enjoyed each of her clients.
Surviving family members include husband Donald, children Donald II, and Chandra Kaye. Her 3 grandsons, the ones she loved to tell everyone about Daniel, Haydon and Colton. Former daughter-in-law and mother of her grandsons Heather Parkulo. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews on the Parkulo side and Natalie Coots from the Johnson side.
Dona never met a stray animal that she wouldn’t take in or feed, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please donate to the local animal or rescue shelter of your choice.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Fred Lovell officiating.
