Dixie Cox, 85, of Coal City, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014. Born March 31, 1929 in Wheelright, KY she was the daughter of the late Landis Dewey and Mary Lou Bates.
Dixie was a homemaker, an avid reader, and enjoyed following and talking about politics and current events. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Besides her parents Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Cox and sons, Troy Lee Cox, Carl Allen Cox and Kenny Wayne Cox.
Dixie is survived by her children, Glenda Cox of Coal City, Donna Canterbury of Kannapolis, NC, Gary Cox of Coal City, Larry Cox of Stockbridge, GA, Terry Cox of Coal City and Carol Brown of Coal City; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30 until time of service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Randy Canterbury, Lee Brown, Daniel Ward, Kenny Cox and Robert Niday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Maria Boustani for her kindness and excellent care over the last eighteen years.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to two special grand-daughters, Courtney Brown Ward and Nena Brown for their extra loving care and attention given to their grandmother.
In lieu of flowers Dixie would have liked for friends to make donations to Hillary Clinton’s future presidential campaign fund.
