D. Joyce Hall of Beckley returned to her heavenly home on December 20, 2021. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and gave her peace. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband George L. Hall, her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by her children Dr. Philip G. Hall (spouse Janith Hall) of Fayetteville, NC, and her daughter Dr. Joyce Hall Wolf (spouse Gene F. Wolf) of Richmond, KY. Grandchildren include Philip Christopher Hall, Aaron David Hall, Matthew Lucas Hall, Andrew Benjamin Hall, Lacey Wolf Rice, and Morgan Joseph Wolf.
Joyce’s unceasing example of faith and commitment of talents to her Savior’s work inspired both her children to life-long work as Christians in church leadership. Joyce was a member of First United Methodist Church (Beckley Community) for over fifty years where she served as a member of the Board, leader and founder of the Quilting Group, and member of the Pathfinders’ Sunday School Class. Her talents as a homemaker and artist extended to numerous awards in the community and state for quilt making. She was also a seamstress, painter, and avid square dancer with her husband George.
A Celebration of this remarkable woman’s life and love of family will be held at Beckley Community United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber St. on Saturday, January 29 with a 1:00 visitation and 2:00 Celebration Service. Rev. Betsy M. Evans will officiate.
