David Earl Speaks

David Earl Speaks 91, of Mount Hope passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House.

 He was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite (Peggy) McMillion Speaks, parents, John Speaks and Belva Buckner Fouts, son, James (Jimmy) Speaks, brother, James Fouts and sister, Nola Caraballo.

 David spent most of his childhood in Wyoming County. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a coal miner at Maple Meadows Mining before retiring.

 He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Speaks Vigil, of Colorado. Grandchildren, Mallory DeVargas and Josh DeVargas of Colorado. Nieces, Deborah Cashion Gobble (Corliss) of Beckley, Miranda Hedrick (Jerry) of Kearnersville, NC, nephew, Creighton Conley (Jann) of Piny Flats, TN, great-nieces, Jessica Cashion Palmer of Beckley, Caitlin Reynolds (Ryan) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Courtney Tucker (Daniel) of Piny Flats, TN.

 In accordance with David’s wishes, no services are planned.
