David H. Cook, 85, of Beaver, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born December 23, 1928 in Pineville, WV, he was the son of the late James Carl and Fonna Musick Cook. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Cook, his second wife, Luella Meador Cook; sisters, Beulah Kerner, Virginia Bazzie and brothers, Musick, Thomas and James Quentin Cook.
David was the former chief canteen service officer for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Beckley. He also worked for the Department of Defense at Fort Bragg, NC. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, attended the First United Methodist Church in Beckley, and was a member of the Beaver Lions Club. David was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War as a medical corpsman aboard the battleship New Jersey-BB62. He had been a resident of Daniels since 2003.
Survivors include his sons, David H. Cook, II and his wife Rosie of Beckley, James Keith Cook and his wife Karen of Roanoke, VA and granddaughters, Jodi Rodgers, Katie Cheslow and Jill Magee.
Following his wishes David will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Waller officiating.
