Danny was a retired school bus driver of 35 years for the Raleigh County Board of Education. He was most known for his passion for horses. If he was not driving the school bus or spending time with family, you could usually find him at his cherished horse barn, Hideaway Stables. Danny spent most of his life dedicated to horsemanship and had many loyal members at the barn whom he also considered family. At the barn, he was known as the “manure king” because he would sell his horse manure throughout the spring and summer to many in Beckley. Most importantly, he found comfort and purpose in his work as a trainer, mentor, and leader at the barn.
Danny was a member of his beloved church, New Prospect Baptist Church. He was actively involved as an adult Sunday school teacher and anything else he could do to facilitate the church’s needs. In addition to being a reliable and giving member to his church, Danny was known to be helpful to anyone he met. If you needed help with something or simply needed to talk, the first person you could call that would move mountains for you would be Danny Bowyer. He had many well-known quotes from “The Book of Dan” such as “if you are not fifteen minutes early you are late” and “great people wake up early.” Danny also enjoyed buying and trading vehicles and loved his F450 and black jeep.
A memorial service will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church, 1853 Sweeneysburg Road Beckley, WV 25801 on Tuesday, March 14th at 5pm. Visitation with the family will start at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to New Prospect Baptist Church in memory of Danny.
