Dallas L. Peters, 89, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
Born May 3, 1923, in Bald Knob, W.Va., he was the son of the late Early and Dona Green Peters.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Arlie Peters; sister, Eileen Bradford; granddaughter, Lisa Eason and son-in-law, Deano Jones, a UBB miner of Beckley.
Dallas was a retired coal miner having worked 40 years for Eastern Coal. He attended the Open Door Church in Shady Spring, was a 63 year member of the Masonic Lodge O’Dell #115 in Madison WV, Scottish Rite Bodies. Dallas was an avid fisherman.
Dallas is survived by his wife Alice of 39 years; four daughters, Lesia Workman of Wharton, W.Va.; Gina Jones of Beckley, Donna Craftand husband Melvin of Gallipolis, Ohio and Karen Steel of Miliam, Mich.; one son, Loren Peters and wife Linda of Sacremento, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Kaitlen Vint, Kyle Dean Jones, J.D. and Chris Craft, Katrina Hill, Jason Peters, Jessica Belding and Kim and Robyn Piach; 14 great grandchildren, four step children; numerous step grandchildren who he loved dearly; sisters, Opal Pennington of Wharton, Lois Brewer of Alum Creek, W.Va., Ivy Workman of Marysville, W.Va.; brothers, Arnie Peters of Clarksville, Ind. and Denzel Peters of Lancaster, Ohio. Dallas is also survived by his granddog, Maddi.
Alice, Lesia and Gina would like to thank his friends for all of the memories and fishing adventures.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Kelly officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Dean Jones, Dustin Hill, Kelle Craft, Brady Craft, Garrett Hill, Austin Hill, Dallas Craft.
In lieu of flowers, Dallas would have wanted donations made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd. Suite 200 Bethesda, MD 20814 in honor of his grandson Kyle Dean Jones to help find a cure.
