Covey Yula Mullens went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020. He was born November 26, 1929 in Slab Fork, WV, the son of the late Joseph and Ida Mullens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son (Charles), four brothers (Joseph, Tiche, Austin and Billy), four sisters (Florence, Marie, Virginia and Edith), a son-in-law (Roger), a granddaughter and a great-great grandson.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Covey is survived by his wife Nellie and children Marvin (Dale) of Beckley, Aldetta Akers of Coal City, Karen (Darrell) Akers of Coal City, Lorrita Brooks of Beckley, Teresa (Stephen) Reynolds of Coal City and daughter-in-law Charlotte of Josephine. He is also survived by three sisters (Tennis, Freda and Audrey), fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Covey loved the Lord and his family. He also loved traveling to camp meetings and attending Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia. He was a retired school bus driver for the Raleigh County Board of Education.
Services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phillip Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m., until the service time.
