Born of September 2, 1924 to Elia and Maria Yon, immigrants of Piedicavallo, Italy. he retured to Italy at the age of 13 monts.
Claudio began his careeer at a very early age as a shepard in the Alps of Piedicavallo, Italy and later becamber a baker. He married his wife Alma in 1945 in Piedicavallo. He came to the United States in 1948 to meet with his father and decided to become a permanent resident. In 1950 he brought his wife and young daughter Maria to Beckley, WV.
Here he started his career as coal miner and stone mason and ultimately became a highway builder, retiring from Vecellio & Grogan. He was quiet, determined and hardworking and devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren.
