Charles Richard Ramsey, 90, of Beckley, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 in a Beckley hospital. Born November 2, 1920 in Sutton, WV, he was the son of the late Dempsey Richard and Memphis Jackson Ramsey.
Charles was a retired railroad clerk for CSX Corporation. He was a founding member and deacon of the Calloway Heights Baptist Church. He was a man of many talents and loved to garden. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving with the 203rd General Hospital in the European Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Perkins.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruie Clark Ramsey; daughter, Regina Perkins and husband Richard Wayne of Lewisburg, WV; son, Mark Ramsey and wife Leola of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Ramsey and wife Brooke, Melody Ramsey, Jessica Bower and husband David; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ardyne and Eislyn Ramsey, Emma and Cage Bower and a brother, Morris Jackson Ramsey of Peterstown.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church with Pastors Bill Parker and Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Roles Chapel Cemetery at Forest Hill. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church.
Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
