Bradley David Shumate, 34, of Beckley previously of Myrtle Beach, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 23, 2012. Born August 17, 1978 he was the son of Debbie L. Shumate of Beckley and Greg Shumate and his wife Pam of Branchland, WV. Preceding Brad in death were his grandparents, Lloyd and Margaret Cochran and grandmother, Billie Jean Shumate.
Brad enjoyed watching WVU sports, caring for animals, walking around town and on the beach and had a love for gardening. Brad was an organ donor. He gave his eyes so that someone could see, his heart so that someone would have a better quality of life and his kidneys so that someone could come off dialysis as his final gift in life.
Besides his parents, Brad is survived by his companion Nicole Jarrett and her daughter Clarissa of Beckley; brothers, Chad Shumate and Dustin Shumate and his companion Sarah of Beckley; grandfather, Felix Shumate and Judy of Charleston; aunts, Peggy Daniels of Myrtle Beach, Karla Long and her husband Scott of Beckley and Susan Hargett and her companion Clint of Richmond, VA; uncle, Mark Shumate of Orlando, FL; niece and nephew, Ava and Ian Shumate who he loved dearly; step brother, James Cantrell; step sisters, Emily and Jennifer Cantrell and numerous cousins and loving friends.
A celebration of life will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at Calfee Funeral Home with Todd Harless officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until time of service.
