Billy Reid Canaday, 90, of Crab Orchard, WV, passed away December 22, 2022, at Browers Hospice House.
Born on April 1, 1932 at Coal City, WV, he was the son of Frances Merle Worley Canaday and Stephen Reed Canaday of Glenview, WV.
Mr. Canaday graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV. Soon after Mr. Canaday enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan. Upon return to the states, he married Carol Adkinson Canaday, and lived most of his life in Oak Hill, West Virginia. He was employed by the Appalachian Power Company where he worked throughout his adult life. Upon retirement, he moved to Crab Orchard, WV, and assumed responsibility and attended to the families’ Canaday Cemetery in Crab Orchard, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Adkinson Canaday; sisters, Martha Canaday Stump, and Evelyn Canaday Gray, and brother Bobby Canaday.
He is survived by David Reed Canaday, brother, and his sister Hazel Canaday Wood both living in Crab Orchard, WV. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Billy was a gifted storyteller causing lighthearted laughter and amusement, a sports enthusiast, enjoyed the outdoors, played the guitar, and was a very generous man. He was a delight to everyone who was privileged to know him.

Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Canaday Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
