And though she be but little, she is fierce. Beverly Devon Crawford Moore, 70, of Daniels, took her sweet time entering Heaven's Pearly Gates on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Born August 3, 1947 in Skelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee Crawford and Hazel Palmer Meadows.
Devon was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed coffee, nicotine, reading her Bible, painting and sewing. In addition, she loved yellow roses, Charles Stanley, the BBQ sandwich from King Tut, and her sister-in-law's cabbage rolls.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Delbert Crawford and sisters, Elaine Shuey and Zelma Casper.
Devon is survived by a daughter, Donna Lester Gunn and husband Jay of Thomasville, NC; son, Howard Lee Lester and wife Angie of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Heather Vargas, Kristin Hilling, Brent Lester, Eric Lester and Rusty Brown; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Crawford of MO; sisters, Juanita Fleig of NC and Shirley Kendrick of VA, and sister-in-law Ida Crawford of Daniels and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special friends at Kimberly Court and other long-time friends including her ex-husband Keith Lester and wife Carol and the entire Lester family she was a part of for so long.
She was a stubborn, ornery, argumentative, funny spitfire wrapped in a tiny 5 foot, 80 pound package and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Devon’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1009 Neville St, Beckley with Pastor Sean Cole officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1009 Neville St., Beckley, WV 25801 or Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
