Betty Jane Sarver

Betty Jane Holstein Sarver, 74, of Beckley, WV, was called home on February 8, 2023, by her heavenly father, while surrounded by her immediate family.  Born on April 21, 1948, she was the fourth of five children to the late Burley Bentley “Bill” and Lillian Mini Holstein of Glen View, WV.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Carol Holstein and Judith Anne Matthews, and companion Thomas Edward Nolley.  She is survived by her sister Janice Lee Cole and her husband Roy “Buck” Cole of Crab Orchard, WV and brother David Bentley Holstein of Sophia, WV. 

She is also survived by her former husband, Charles R. Sarver and their three daughters and their families:  daughter Lori Anne and Michael John Constantine and grandchildren Joshua, Alexandra, and Katherine of Morgantown, WV; daughter Amy Gayle and Casey Andrew Sheridan and grandsons Alexander and Nicholas of Durham, NC, and daughter Rachael Allison Sarver and Brian Keith Looney and grandchildren Zachary, Dustin, Kassidy, and Lucas of Beckley, WV. She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Kaisley Jane.

After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1966, she became a wife and mother and later graduated from Bluefield State College, School of Nursing in 1980.  Her nursing career spanned nearly three decades with her last ten years spent at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV.  Her greatest joys in life were her faith, raising her children, being a devoted grandmother, and caretaker to all in need.  She was a member of several churches during her lifetime, starting with Glen View Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, WV, and most recently with the Calvary Assembly of God in Beckley, WV.  She was a kind, intelligent, thoughtful friend to many and will be missed immensely by those who knew her. May her memory be eternal.

Oakwood Avenue, Beckley, WV, 25801, calfeefuneralhome.com.  There will be a memorial service at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley WV on February 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Pastor John Jordan officiating followed by a short graveside service where she will be laid to rest alongside her mother, father, and sister at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley WV.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
