Betty Ruth Bettina, 79, of Maxwell Hill Road, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 5, 2009 following a long illness. Born January 28, 1930 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Ozzie and Vella Lacy Crawford. Betty was a loving wife and mother. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a homemaker and a former corporate secretary for B&B Excavating, Pavex, Inc. and Raleigh Stone Company. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph H. Bettina, daughter, Tammy Jo Bettina, brothers; James and Tom Crawford and sister, Maria Foose.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Sergio H. Bettina, daughter, Cynthia Jo Griffith and husband James of Beckley, sisters; Mary Adkins of Siler City, NC and Lorena Maynard of Salisbury, NC, special nephew, Ronald Foose of Martinsburg, WV, special niece, Darlene Brower of Siler City, NC and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Harsh officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Monday. Pallbearers will be Ed Srednicki, Jennings Martin, Larry Lyons, Oscar Vecellio, Danny Smith and Bill Wilkinson.
The family suggests either flowers or donations to a charity of one’s choice.
