Betty R. Bryant of Daniels, WV passed away at Plateau Medical Center from a long
illness on January 11, 2022 with her daughter and daughter-in-law by her side.
She was born in Whitby, WV on April 3, 1944, to parents, Paul and Beulah Maxine
Ellison Halstead.
Betty was raised in Harper, WV, on the family farm where she was no stranger to hard
work and where a great work ethic was instilled within her. Betty was happiest when she was caring for others. Betty loved kids, especially her grandchildren and was very involved in their lives. When her
grandkids got older and started bringing their friends home, she became Mamaw to their
friends as well.
She attended Trap Hill High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1962. She continued her education by earning her Licensed Practical Nursing certification that she
utilized throughout her working career. Betty worked at Beckley Appalachian Regional,
Doctor’s Clinic for over 20 wonderful years, Doctor’s Clinic Pulmonary Lab, All-Care
Medical, and Praxair Healthcare. She made many friends throughout her career that became friends for her life.
Betty was a member of New Life Baptist Church in White Oak, WV. During the last couple of
years when she unable to leave home due to failing health, she enjoyed listening to gospel
music, especially the Gaither’s.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; sister, Treva Halstead; nephew,
Gregory Worrell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Sandra Worrell and husband, Gilbert;
daughter Jamie Quesenberry and husband Ronald; son John “Tony” Suptic and wife Alison;
granddaughter Heather Quesenberry and husband Andrew Butta; grandson Stephen Quesenberry
and wife Savanha; great-grandson Jeremiah Butta who was the light of her life; special friend that
was just like a brother, Randy Smithson and wife Gloria; aunts, and several cousins.
Services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor
Rodney Allen and Brother Randy Smithson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial
Park. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. EJ Salon and his nurse Pandie who provided excellent care
throughout the years and to the staff at Plateau Medical Center that were so good to her
during her stays for rehabilitation. She loved you all.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Betty’s name to New Life Baptist Church P.O. Box 229 White Oak, WV 25989.
