Betty M. Sims, 80, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 in a Beckley hospital. Born January 11, 1931 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Larkin and Maggie Bell Houston Osborne. Betty was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sarah Circle, Beta Sigma Phi Eta Master Chapter and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed watching the birds that gathered in her yard. Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sims; sisters, Frances Wiseman and Wilma Meadows; brothers, John L., Warren and Thomas M. Osborne.
Survivors include her four daughters, Susan Allen and husband Don of Beckley, Betty Jo Pugh and husband Neal of Meadow Bridge, Jane Wood and husband Jeff of Grandview and Myra Anderson and husband Jay of Beckley; grandchildren, Daniel Lilly and wife Susan of Asheville, NC, Joe Allen of Exton, PA, Paige Hawkins and husband Andy of Harrisonburg, VA, Lindsay Clyde and husband Justin of Beckley; great grandchildren, Ashley and Rachael Lilly, Hayden Clyde, Drew and Miller Hawkins; brother, Bill Osborne of Hinton, WV and sister, Virginia Amick of Beckley, special sister-in-law, Sarah Osborne and special neighbors, George and Betty Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Stoddard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Calfee Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday where a Memorial Ritual of Beta Sigma Phi will be conducted at 7: 45 p.m. Sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
