Betty Eller, 82, of Ghent passed away quietly in her sleep surrounded by family on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Born February 23, 1934 in Teaneck, NJ she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine Elizabeth Milliken Will. Besides her parents Betty was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Clancy.
Betty obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rochester and Nursing Degree from Englewood Hospital. While practicing as a Registered Nurse she was employed at University Hospital, the Jewish Community Center, preschool nurse and volunteer EMS in Minerva Park in Columbus, OH. She received her certificate for Emergency Medical Technician in 1986 and later became a member of the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department EMS and at one time was appointed to the State Board of EMS. Betty was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and was very active in the community belonging to the Phymosia Garden Club, Beckley Book Club and Antique Automobile Club of America White Water Region. She started a fund at the Beckley Area Foundation for the Shady Spring Library. During Betty’s spare time she was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing and gardening to name a few but enjoyed most the time she spent with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ned Eller; children, Craig Eller and his wife Kathy, Steve Eller and Ellen Michels and her husband Gary and grandchildren, Joshua, Kerry and Kate Eller and Gaines and Ryan Michels.
A memorial service will be held 11AM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Rite of committal will follow in St. Sebastion Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
