Basil Albert Spangler

Basil Albert Spangler, 69, of Austin, IN formerly of Beckley, WV passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at his residence following a long illness.

Born March 20, 1953 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Basil Ray and Virginia Spangler Cree.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and jack Dale Spangler; brother-in-law, Danie Lusk and longtime companion Nancy Johnette Cheetham.

Mr. Spangler was a former painter and maintenance man.  He was a 1972 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Beckley College.  He enjoyed fishing, flea marketing, collecting coins and antiques.  He was big fan of the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his son, Jerald Spangler and his wife Susan of Sophia, WV; 2 brothers, Ross Spangler and wife Robin of Prosperity, WV and Jeff Spangler of Madison, IN; 2 sisters, Deborah Lusk of Barnesville, OH and Juanita Powell-Potter and husband Doug of Kent, IN; 2 grandchildren, Scotty Spangler and companion Cortney, Presley Spangler; great grandson, Cyrus Spangler and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023 at Greenbrier Burial park in Hinton, WV with pastor Sam Bell officiating. Friends may vist with the family from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the cemetery.
