Anthony Fredrick Massinople

Anthony Fredrick 'Tony' Massinople, 66, died peacefully at his home in Hayes, Virginia on Friday, November 25, 2011 after a long illness. Anthony was a native of Beckley, West Virginia, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He earned a degree in Economics from West Virginia University graduating in 1967. He then proudly served his country in the U. S. Army, First Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam. In honor of Anthony's heroism and courage under fire, he was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. Additional recognition includes the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Commendation Medal.

While attending Woodrow Wilson he was a standout baseball player. He also captained the 1962 track team and was the state champion of the 440 yd. event.
In 1981 he married Barbara Lynn Cornelsen of Wellington, Kansas. They settled in Bailey, Colorado where Anthony was a self employed remodeling contractor. In 2002 they relocated to Hayes in Gloucester County, Virginia, located near historic Yorktown.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles A. Massinople.

Alicia Scott and husband Rick
Brothers: Marion 'Mike' Massinople and wife Kathleen 'Kitty'
Charles Massinople and wife Wilma
John Massinople
And a host of nieces, nephews and cousins

A funeral liturgy will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Monsignor Samuel S. Sacus officiating.
