Anise Trail Collins

Anise Trail Collins, 95, of Lester went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 27, 2009.

Born February 8, 1914, on the Thomas Holt Covey Farm on Tam’s Mountain; she was the youngest child of the late James H. Trail and Susan Covey Trail.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Giammerino in 1942; three brothers; Thomas Trail, Sherman Trail and Winfred Covey; a wonderful sister, Myra Trail Miller; and husband, Dwight L. Collins on November 12, 2007.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her son James F. Collins, and his wife Martha Ann Collins of Lester; daughter Linda Collins Minnick of Boonsboro, MD; a beloved grandson Jeffrey J. Collins of Lester; great-grandson Cody J. Collins; nephews: Glen McKinney, Julian Trail, Robert Covey and nieces: Anise Sue Rakes, Nola McNicol, Norma Larabee and Sharon Casto.

Mrs. Collins was interested in genealogy. She wrote from Scotland to America, “The History of the Trails” in 1984.

Her hobbies were writing poetry, enjoyed cooking for her family, bird watching, and the study of wild flowers. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible.

She was a dedicated member of the Lester Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, a member of RCRTA (Raleigh County Retired Teacher’s Association), an officer
of the Covey-Trail Reunion, and received numerous awards from the World of Poetry.

The Collins Family would like to give special thanks and gratitude to the many staff members at The Raleigh Center and Greystone for their loving care and hospitality.

Visitation will be at Calfee Funeral Home on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 5pm-7pm. Funeral services will be in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 30, 2009 at noon with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey J. Collins, Cody J. Collins, Roger Trail, Ted Milam, Mark Sizemore, and Elroy Sawyers. Honorary pallbearer Charlie Lannutti.
