Agnes Peelish Nagy, 87, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
Agnes was born on August 15, 1935, in Raleigh, WV. She was the youngest of eleven children to John and Paulina Jaichicka Peelish. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Julius Nagy. They lived together most of their married life in Beckley, WV and worshipped at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church having moved in recent years to The Addison of Fuquay-Varina, an assisted living facility in North Carolina, to be near family. She is also survived by her three children and six grandchildren who were the light of her life: David Nagy (Suzanna) of Willow Spring, NC and their two children Joseph and Jonathan, Dan Nagy (Julie) of Holly Springs, NC and their two children Jenna and Justin and her daughter, Rosemary Trussell (Steve) of Bowling Green, KY and their two children Savannah and William. In addition, she is survived by a dear sister-in-law, Lois Peelish of Beckley, WV and many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her five brothers John, Bill, Victor, Mike and Steve Peelish and five sisters Mary Mucha,
Antoinette Chamarro, Sophia Scarafino, Blanche Statzer and Josephine Pachuta.
Agnes was a 1954 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV where she was a member of the Booster, Ushers and Service Clubs. She was a devoted sister, mother and wife and was known for her delicious cooking and baking. She was employed for many years by The Char restaurant and was known to many in the community.
The family would like to thank the many employees of The Addison of Fuquay-Varina and Transitions Hospice Care team who cared for Agnes in her last years. She liked to think of them as her special “Angels” here on earth.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 on Saturday, February 18th at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Beckley, with Msgr Samuel Sacus officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services, also at the church.
Rite of Committal will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel, Beckley. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetary of Sunset Memorial Park.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
